IBMs Global Services division Tuesday announced a set of new asset-based services aimed at helping customers move to service-oriented architectures.

Michael Liebow, vice president of Web services and SOA at IGS (IBM Global Services), said the new asset-based services consist of IBM software and other intellectual property, as well as best practices, and they focus on the planning, design, implementation and management of SOAs.

The four new sets of services include the IBM Business Enablement Services for Service-Oriented Architecture, which helps explain to customers how SOA can help them.

The second set of services is the IBM Design Services for Service-Oriented Architecture, which helps customers map out a design for their SOA.

The third set of services is the IBM Implementation Services for Service-Oriented Architecture, which helps customers build out their SOA, and the last set is the IBM Management Services for Service-Oriented Architecture, which provides monitoring and management for the SOA.

IBM Global Services also announced its new AVO (Application Value Optimization) Services, which is designed to help integrate the other four services into a customer environment.

“The key part of this announcement is IBMs Application Value Optimization service,” said Jason Bloomberg, an analyst with ZapThink LLC, in Waltham, Mass.

“This service is a part of their overall SOA consulting offering, alongside business enablement, design and implementation services. The AVO offering is the most business-oriented of these offerings, focusing on business alignment, transformation and management. Basically, IBM is rounding out their SOA consulting offering by providing soup-to-nuts technology and business services,” Bloomberg said.
