OmniSkys Internet service and Minstrel S Springboard-based wireless modem is a good way for those who use Handsprings Visor handhelds to get connected to e-mail and the Web. However, those who have the Visor Solo and Deluxe models will be disappointed to learn that the Minstrel S modem can be used only with Handsprings new Visor Platinum and Prism devices.

SHORT-TERM BUSINESS IMPACT // The Minstrel S Springboard modem carries its software on the module itself, enabling fast installation.

LONG-TERM BUSINESS IMPACT // As a Springboard module, the Minstrel S locks companies into using one vendors handhelds, unlike PC Card- and CF-based wireless modems.

Simple installation; easy-to-use messaging and browsing applications; good battery life.

Does not work with Visor Solo or Deluxe handhelds; OmniSky browser has trouble accessing Web sites that use cookies.
