While in many ways it is only a small point upgrade, Stylus Studio 6 XML Professional Edition Release 2 adds compelling new features to the already very good XML and Web services editor.

Released in January by Progress Software, Stylus Studio 6 Release 2 has improved XML editing and validation features, enhanced XPath capabilities, and extra data connection features. Pricing for Stylus Studio starts at $495.

One of the most useful new features in Stylus Studio 6 Release 2 is the inclusion of solid visual editing capabilities for XML schema files. Using this feature, it was much easier to edit and create a large and complex XML schema.

Also welcome was the ability to use the Convert to XML feature to convert EDI files into XML formats. This worked fairly cleanly and proved to be a simple process for anyone who has mapped legacy data formats into XML.

Stylus Studio 6 Release 2 runs on Windows 2000 and Windows XP.
