A major announcement from the 2009 CES came from Palm when the company announced its Pre smartphone. The Palm Pre looks to compete against the Apple iPhone and other touch-screen devices that have come into the handset market in the last year.
3The RIM BlackBerry Curve 8900
The RIM BlackBerry Curve is expected to hit the market in early February with T-Mobile as the first carrier to offer the new smartphone. The BlackBerry Curve 8900 will have both GPS and Wi-Fi, as well as a 3.2-megapixel camera.

The Samsung Omnia smartphone is one of several handset devices that the company decided to show off at CES this year. The Omnia offers 8GB of memory and a 5.0-megapixel camera, and it runs Microsoft Windows Mobile. Verizon Wireless is the carrier for the Omnia.

The Eternity is a consumer-focused smartphone from Samsung. It offers a 3-megapixel camera and has touch-screen capabilities. AT&T is the carrier for this smartphone, and the Eternity will run on AT&T’s 3G network.
6The Motorola Aura
The Motorola Aura is the company’s high-end cell phone offering. For the $2,000 price, a user can get the Aura’s solid steel casing and a screen that can support 16 million colors and a 300-dpi resolution. The Aura is also SIM-free.
7The Motorola Moto Surf
The Motorola Moto Surf A3100 smartphone is not available in the United States just yet. This touch-screen smartphone can run Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.1 and can support a number of Web applications, such as Google Maps.
8The Motorola Hint QA30
The Motorola Hint QA30 offers a slide keyboard as well as a 2-megapixel camera. In addition to these features, the Hint QA30 allows users to have threaded text messaging. This Motorola phone is available through Alltel and U.S. Cellular.
9The Sony Ericsson Xperia X1
The Sony Ericsson Xperia is the first collaboration between the handset maker and Microsoft. The Xperia smartphone runs Windows Mobile 6.1, has a touch-screen and has 128MB of RAM. In addition, users can access applications such as Facebook.
10The HTC Touch HD
The HTC Touch is another phone that is not available inside the United States just yet. It supports Windows Mobile 6.1 and offers 288MB of RAM. In addition, the HTC Touch HD offers touch-screen capabilities and can work on a 3G network.

This is one of several “green” cell phones that Samsung had on display at the 2009 CES expo. This phone, for example, does not use any PVCs (polyvinyl chloride)–a type of plastic that can be toxic.
