AT&T is now offering half-price BlackBerry smartphones for a limited time, as part of two additional holiday promotions it announced on Dec. 3.
As of Dec. 4, customers can purchase any Research In Motion BlackBerry in AT&T’s lineup for half off. The selection includes the BlackBerry Bold 9700 – which reviewers and analysts have called “excellent” and the “best BlackBerry RIM has ever built” – as well as the Bold 9000 and the Curve 8900, 8520, 8320 and 8310.
The finer points of the discount are that it comes after a mail-in rebate and with a two-year service plan at a minimum of $69.99.
The other announced promotion is the limited availability of the Samsung Solstice for free – after a $50 mail-in rebate and with a two-year service agreement for a minimum $20 data or messaging plan.
The Solstice features a 3-inch touchscreen with a virtual, landscape qwerty keyboard, as well as Samsung’s TouchWiz user interface – which offers one-touch access to favorite features and applications, as well the ability to customize the phone with widgets. These offer quick access to favored sites, such as Facebook and MySpace.
The Solstice can access AT&T’s 3G network, as well as AT&T offerings such as AT&T Navigator, for turn-by-turn directions, Mobile Music with Napster Mobile and eMusic Mobile.
Also included are a 2-megapixel camera, an MP3 music player, video-share calling, mobile Web and mobile video, and support for mobile e-mail, instant messaging and a 16 GB MicroSD card.
Other holiday promotions include an offer from HTC, running through Dec. 31, that includes giving $100 to consumers who trade in eligible smartphones and purchase one of four HTC devices.
Among the eligible devices for trade-in are the BlackBerry 7780 and 7750.
