The winner of Apple‘s billion App countdown contest is a 13-year-old from Weston, Conn., who downloaded Bump, an application that lets users bump their iPhones together in order to exchange contact information.

Winner Connor Mulcahey will receive a MacBook Pro, a $10,000 iTunes gift card, an iPod Touch and a Time Capsule.

Apple hosted the contest in connection with its App Store, originally launched on July 8, reaching a billion Apps downloaded by users. The milestone was reached on April 23, and Apple marked the event with large ads in The New York Times and other high-profile media outlets.

The App Store has grown to offer more than 25,000 applications, with its most popular ones including Facebook for iPhone and Google Earth, as well as games such as Crash Bandicoot Nitro Kart 3D. It ran into controversy earlier this week over a 99-cent “Baby Shaker” App that was eventually pulled from the App Store after protests; an Apple spokesperson later characterized the program as “deeply offensive.”

The iPhone has also grown to offer more enterprise-centric apps from SAP, Salesforce.com and others.

The iPhone has also become a stronger device for the enterprise with the inclusion of business-oriented apps by SAP, Salesforce.com and others.

Roughly 17 million users in 80 countries are iPhone users, according to the company. Some 3.7 million devices were shipped during the first quarter of 2009, helping propel Apple to strong quarterly results that included net profit rising to $1.21 billion from $1.05 billion a year ago, with gross margins of 36.4 percent.
