1FileMaker Go Makes Databases Mobile
by P. J. Connolly
This sales database opens up to an attractive image that is stored as part of the database.
3Edit a Record
FileMaker Go allows the user to edit database records in the field, and later upload them to the master file.
4The Detailed View
Sometimes, the basics are all you need, but FileMaker Go allows the user to toggle between basic and detailed views.
5Browse Database Records
The slider bar allows the user to browse database records until the desired one is found.
6Drop-down, Meet Selection Wheel
Although drop-down menus are the norm for desktop data interfaces, FileMaker Go allows these to be seen as an easily accessed wheel instead.
7FileMaker Go’s Basic Settings
The options menu of FileMaker Go controls database behavior and appearance, and allows access to more sophisticated functions.
8Choose a Script, Any Script
If your database incorporates script-based operations, those are easily executed from the Perform Script pane.
9Under the Hood
Sometimes, theres no substitute for looking at the table view of a database, although the iPhone admittedly isnt the best tool for this.
10File Transfer via iTunes
FileMaker Go databases and PDFs generated from records can be moved to or from a mobile device using e-mail, but for anything substantial, iTunes is a must.
