The latest rumor to surface in the merger mania that has gripped wireless carriers is that Verizon now has its eye on Alltel, a telecom provider based in Little Rock.

Rumors circulated last week that Verizon would target Sprint but analysts disputed that liklihood after news of the Sprint-Nextel merger was announced.
