The new SonicWall SOHO TZW ($900 street) is a complete security appliance for small networks, be they wired, wireless, or both. Its easy setup and robust feature set make it worth considering for DIY networkers.

The TZW employs four wizards to simplify initial configuration for the most common small-office deployment scenarios. We had the device up and running in minutes, thanks to the approachable Web-based interface and easy-to-follow prompts.

The TZW has an excellent SPI (stateful packet inspection) firewall that allows flexibility in creating access rules. But whereas the vast majority of wireless access points on the market place wireless clients on the same network as wired clients (which can create security problems), the TZW keeps wireless clients in a completely separate zone.
