Operators Wary of WiMax, Study Says

WiMax will make up 60 percent of the broadband wireless market by 2008, according Pyramid Research Analyst John Yunker. But he said that fixed wireless operators have not yet embraced the technology and and that operators will be reluctant to adopt the technology until prices come down.

Nextel is already acquiring the necessary spectrum for WiMax and it could begin supplying fixed wireless services in early 2005, Yunker said.
