In a novel co-launching effort, Palm Inc. and DataViz Inc. last week announced Version 4.0 of DataVizs Documents to Go software.

Documents to Go Professional Edition Version 4.0 enables users to view Microsoft Corp.s PowerPoint files on Palm OS devices via an application called Slideshow to Go. It also includes the ability to create and edit spreadsheets that are compatible with Microsofts Excel.

While DataViz, of Trumbull, Conn., has supported Microsoft applications on the Palm for more than a year and Microsoft is Palms biggest competitor, this is the first time Palm, of Santa Clara, Calif., has joined DataViz to co-launch a product.

Version 4.0 will be available at the end of the month for $69.95.
