Sprint, LG Announce Rumor 2 Smartphone Is Days Away

Sprint has announced that the LG Rumor 2 smartphone will be available through the Sprint network starting March 15, first in Titanium Black. A Vibrant Blue model follows on March 29.
Sprint is positioning the LG Rumor 2 smartphone as a handset device for those users on a budget. When it goes on sale March 15, Sprint is offering a retail price-with a new two-year contract and after a $50 mail-in rebate-of $49.99.
The Rumor 2 features a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, Bluetooth technology, a 1.3-megapixel camera, an MP3 player, a microSD memory card slot with a 16GB card capability, the Sprint Navigation GPS application and a 1.2-by-1.61-inch QVGA display-the resolution of which has been increased from the original Rumor smartphone.
Screen resolution isn’t the only improvement over the original Rumor, which according to Sprint was a big hit for the company when it debuted in 2007.
The QWERTY keyboard has been expanded for easier typing, with the addition of a row of number keys at the top of the keyboard. The Bluetooth has been upgraded to stereo (from mono), and the back cover can be swapped out for “greater personalization options.”
Access to Microsoft Exchange Server and IBM Lotus Notes is available through Sprint Mobile Email Work as an extension of Sprint Mobile Email, which enables users to access personal e-mail accounts-such as those from Gmail, Yahoo and AOL-as well as corporate e-mail accounts in the same application.
The phone measures 4.4 by 2.1 by 0.07 inches and weighs 4.23 ounces-which is slightly larger, and 10 ounces heavier, than its predecessor.
