AirMagnet WiFi Analyzer PRO 9 Aids Roaming Analysis by Scanning Multiple Channels

Multi-adapter Kit AirMagnet sells a multi-adapter kit to go with Analyzer PRO 9, allowing customers to monitor up to three radio channels at the same time. The kit, $495, includes three Proxim 802.11a/b/g/n USB sticks and a five-port hub to stick on the back of the laptop monitor.

New Dashboard The new configurable dashboard gives wireless administrators upfront access to information that may require immediate attention. The graphs are updated live, second by second.

Decodes Administrators can capture and view decodes from all three sensors, side by side.

Roaming AnalysisThe new Roaming Analysis module automatically detects clients roaming between APs, timestamps the roam actions, and presents before and after information about the client’s signal strength and connections. For WiFi VOIP, a Mean Opinion Score is generated and detected delay is broken out by impact due to association and authentication.

Multiple Adapters Selected Analyzer 9 behaves differently depending on the number of adapters initialized. Here, three initialized adapters (top) mean each must be locked on a single channel.

Single Sensor When a single sensor is selected, users can lock scans to a single channel or perform a time-sliced sweep across channels.

Channels With the multi-adapter kit in use, I could see data rate and utilization metrics across three concurrently monitored channels.

One Touch Tests Analyzer 9 makes it easier to perform the same network performance tests over again, creating profiles for commonly used sites or services. In addition to the Ping and Trace tests previously available, administrators can now test Web and FTP sites as well.
