Storage is an important part of the digital video lifestyle and a number of storage vendors will showcase their latest wares at this weeks Digital Video Expo East in New York City. Opening Tuesday at the Javits Center, the conference and show will offer information for both the professional and the prosumer.

The interest in the prosumer customer may take much of the coverage, as Adobe Systems Inc. today revamped its entire digital video product line, concentrating on the Windows platform with an integrated set of tools for video and audio editing, compositing, effects and DVD authoring.

Professional users may find more news about last weeks announcement of a forthcoming high-definition digital video format for DV cassette tapes. The group introducing the technology includes Sony, Canon and Sharp Corp. (For more information see the latest Storage Digest.

More than 70 video companies will show products at the expo, with a number of others making announcements off the floor. Several storage companies focusing on the digital video market have booths, as well as large manufacturers with both optical and hard disk-based storage divisions, including ADS Technologies, AVID Technology Inc., Disc Makers, JVC America Professional Products, Panasonic Broadcast and Professional Video, RAID Inc., Sony Business Solutions and Systems and Verbatim Corp.
