Automotive exchange provider Covisint Inc. penned an alliance with Requisite Technology Inc. Thursday that will drive supplier on-boarding into buy-side e-procurement systems.

Covisint will integrate Requisites eMerge content management system into its exchange engine. eMerge allows suppliers to maintain control of their catalog content and buyers to be more efficient in getting to market.

The integration will provide suppliers with the flexibility to publish catalog data to multiple standards, platforms and classification structures based on buyers needs, according to Requisite officials.

The net effect, according to Covisint, is that suppliers will be able to get on board quickly and self-sufficiently, while cutting the costs of doing business.

Requisite, of Westminster, Colo., is no stranger to exchanges. It has content-enabled the likes of American Express Co.s MarketMile eProcurement platform; Pantellos, founded by 21 energy companies; and Quadrem, the e-marketplace for global mining, minerals and metals industries.

Covisint expects to have eMerge fully operational and supporting 3 million SKUs (stock-keeping units) by the second quarter of this year.

Covisint, of Southfield, Mich., plans to catalog 6 million SKUs by the end of the year. The company was founded by automakers DaimlerChrysler, Ford, General Motors, Nissan and Renault along with software vendors Commerce One and Oracle Corp.
