A dozen clinicians, IT vendors, and health care purchasers or payers have been appointed to the Certification Commission for Healthcare Information Technology, which will certify health care information technology products including ambulatory electronic medical records. The commission is part of a joint effort of the American Health Information Management Association, Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society, and National Alliance for Health Information Technology to provide private sector certification of electronic health records.
