Product lifecycle management application developer Agile Software Corp. announced Wednesday the acquisition of Tradec Inc.
San Jose, Calif.-based Tradec makes cost management software to help manufacturing companies reduce direct material costs, officials said.
The acquisition, the terms of which were not disclosed, will help Agile boost its cost management software, Product Cost Management, by tapping Tradecs functionality around direct materials cost and performance management.
With Tradecs capabilities in-house, Agile will offer additional analytics capabilities as well as increased supplier collaboration for its customers. Agile will also use Tradecs content partners to provide reference data for better enabling the PLM (product lifecycle management) decision making process, officials said.
In addition, the acquisition brings Agile into the small and midsize market by establishing a relationship between it and Avnet, a Tradec partner that provides cost management software to the SMB market.
The Tradec acquisition is part of Agiles long-term strategy to build market share within the PLM sector and is the companys fifth such acquisition this year.
“With this acquisition we extend the analytics and market content within our products, while bringing more than 5,500 additional suppliers into the fold,” Bryan Stolle, Agiles CEO, said in a statement.
