Recently, I received an unidentified e-mail simply headed “Career and Investment Opportunity.” For the “partnership opportunity” (wink, wink) with this unnamed venture-capital firm, all I had to do was reply and, of course, drop $9,750 as my required initial investment (nudge, nudge).

Sounded tempting, but my checking account was a bit below the $9,000 mark and payday was another week away.

The offer probably came from the same listing geniuses that repeatedly sent this 23-year-old female ads for Viagra. Big surprise: Ive passed on both.
