Jim Allchin, co-president of Microsoft’s platforms and systems division (and acting Windows Vista development chief) posted late last week an open letter to software developers on Microsoft’s Vista Development Center Web site. “If you want to ride the wave we’re creating with Windows Vista, the best way is to have your application ready by the time we ship,” Allchin said. “And that is very soon.” Allchin said Microsoft is already working with more than 1,000 developers on new applications, a number of which are new companies that aren’t household names. It’s full speed ahead to November business availability for Vista, according to Allchin.
