Computer maker Dell introduced a line of laser and LED printers, including a multifunction monochrome laser printer with a 4.3-inch touch-screen interface priced under $600 and a single universal print driver designed to reduce the complexity of printer driver management. Models include the 2350d/dn, 2355dn and 1355cn/cnw.
The 3250d/dn model is nearly 13 percent faster than the Dell 2330, with up to 40 printed pages per minute, and includes a standard duplexer for double-side prints. The company said networking functionality makes this printer well-suited for workgroups. It is available for order in the United States this week for $249, or $299 with networking.
The 2355dn monochrome laser printer offers a color touch screen built to enhance workflow and improve the customer experience. It also comes with print, copy, scan and fax capabilities and a duty cycle of 80,000 pages. The 2355dn retails for $599 and is currently available in the United States.
Dell claims its 1355cn/cnw model is the world’s smallest 4-in-1 multifunction color laser-class network printer. With print/copy/scan/fax capabilities, the printer delivers print speeds of 15/12 ppm (mono/color), and network and WiFi options, and is designed to be more energy efficient. The drum and fuser are designed to last the lifetime of the printer, according to the company. It is available for order now in the United States for $379.99, or $419.99 with WiFi capability.
With the Dell Open Print Driver (OPD), a single universal print driver designed to reduce the complexity of printer driver management, businesses can access improved results with a very small print driver. The Open Print Driver is one of the smallest universal printer driver solutions available and is designed to streamline operations and workflow while improving control and efficiency across an entire printing fleet.
It offers a user-friendly interface, customizable features and benefits that include an all-in-one single software package with multiple supported printer description languages (PDLs) in a small installation file, a common user interface for all printer types-single function, multifunction, color and mono laser printers-access to supported devices through automatic discovery of networked printers, configuration and printer settings, and the ability to manage remotely and installs to end users over networks.
“Engineered to make digitizing and storing hard copy documents pain-free, the new offerings tap into the needs of customers whose worlds have become increasingly digital, every technology accessory critical to office productivity,” a company release stated. “Businesses of all sizes want to ensure they’re getting the most out of their technology. These new offerings not only give you reliability at the speed you need but simplify print management.”
