While the focus of the tech medias attention is on Apple, with its Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC) kicking off with serious upgrades of its MacBook Air and MacBook Pro families, Dell also unveiled three Vostro notebooksthe 3360, 3460 and 3560, sporting IT support and security features aimed at small and midsize businesses in need of increased mobility. The 3560 is available now via Dells Website starting at $599. The 3360 (starting at $649) and 3460 (starting at $599) will be available from June 21.
Offered in a choice of 13-inch, 14-inch and 15-inch models, the notebooks are available with options such as Intel third-generation processors, a six- or four-cell battery (the 4-cell battery is the only option on the 3360), while an HD web cam and microphone, Waves MaxxVoice Pro and Bluetooth 4.0 technology boost communication and collaboration abilities. The Vostro 3360 and 3460 are also available with optional 4G LTE mobile broadband featuring Dells NetReady mobile broadband service.
Other features found on all three notebooks, when configured with a 32GB mSATA SSD card, is faster boot-up times and hibernate response times through Intel Rapid Start Technology. Meanwhile, business users can access information more quickly with Intel Smart Connect Technology, which keeps content updated even when in sleep mode. On the aesthetics side, Dell is offering the notebooks in a choice of three indulgently titled colors: Aberdeen Silver, Brisbane Bronze and Lucerne Red.
Dell is hoping to capture the attention of small business customers with secure and simple-to-use technology that doesnt require expansive IT departments. Fingerprint readers come standard, while DigitalPersona File Protection software encrypts folders and files. The notebooks also boast Trend Micro data protection software, while Dells own DataSafe Online Backup safeguards critical data via online back-up to a protected, remote storage site. Security doesnt stop there, as Dell has also loaded up the Vostros with the companys Accidental Damage Service, which adds an additional level of security by protecting the notebooks from drops, spills, surges and other on-the-job accidents.
