Some people suggested Bear Stearns PC analyst Andrew Neff went off the deep end with his recent “manifesto” that urges major computer makers to give up the fight and consolidate. Neff wants Dell to buy Gateway as well as IBMs PC division. He thinks Hewlett-Packard should purchase Compaq, and he urges Apple to forget about its PowerPC and make Windows/Intel boxes.

“Andrew Neff should stop smoking that stuff on company time,” wrote one snickering online critic of the suggestions. “Andrew Neff is just venting because his stock portfolio is circling the toilet, just like most peoples,” wrote another.

Maybe Disney should just buy everything and end this debate.
