      Toshiba’s T200 ultrathin laptops weigh less than 4 pounds and are 1 inch thick. The T215, seen here, offers an 11.6-inch (diagonal) TruBrite HD widescreen display, while a T235 model has a 13.3-inch screen.

      The T200 Series laptops offer a choice of AMD Athlon II Neo, Turion II Neo or ultralow-voltage Intel Pentium dual-core processors, up to 4GB of DDR3 memory and 320GB hard drives.

      Also included in T200 Series models are a Webcam and an HDMI port. They come in a choice of red, white or black, and pricing begins at $470.

      5Toshiba Satellite L600 Series

      Toshiba says the L600 Series now offers more screen size choices, color options and configurations with processors from Intel and AMD. Screen sizes range from 14 to 17.3 inches on the diagonal.

      L600 models include Webcams, DVD drives, hard drives up to 500GB and the Media Controller application for wirelessly streaming music, photos and video to other Windows PCs or Windows 7 devices, such as the Xbox 360 game console. (Even the best students need a break sometimes.)

      Available in steel gray, black, red, brown or white, L600 models have flat keyboards, multitouch TouchPads and what Toshiba calls a glossy Fusion Finish with a Helios pattern. Pricing starts at $515.

      The C600 Series laptops come with a 14- or 15.6-inch HD TruBrite widescreen display, Wireless-N connectivity, a DVD SuperMulti drive and a 250GB or 320GB hard drive.

      The 15.6-inch C655 features a numeric 10-key keypad. All the C600 models come with Toshiba’s Eco Utility for monitoring and adjusting the laptop’s power consumption, meet EPA Energy Star 5.0 standards, have EPEAT Gold status and are RoHS-compatible.

      Also on board is Toshiba’s ReelTime app, offering a visual history of recently used files, and a Bulletin Board app for drag-and-drop organizing of links, photos, videos and apps in a single place. Pricing begins at $450.

      11Toshiba Dynadock

      The Dynadock reduces clutter and attaches a laptop to a number of peripherals through a single cord. It offers three USB 2.0 ports, a USB Type B connector, a DVI-I video port, DC-IN, a security lock slot and a network port in a slim black tower, for $120.
