It is easy to sum up Michael Dell’s discussion at the Gartner IT Symposium this year. In the past, he was always a champion of the direct channel and extolled the virtues of quick manufacturing turns, build to order and tight inventory management. Now, Michael loves every channel including retail, indirect and system builder. His twist, now that he has put himself firmly back in charge, is those very attributes that were so great in building the direct business will be equally great in the new strategy of Dell never met a channel it didn’t love.
