Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 beta picks up steam

I just finished looking at the service pack 1 beta for Windows Server 2008 R2 and the initial results are positive. It’s also clear that IT managers should take a close look at the new features made possible by the RemoteFX technology that is being woven into both Windows Server and Windows 7.

Here’s a video that shows one aspect of the advance graphics features that are made possible by the RemoteFX capability:


This is the sample video that ships with Windows 7 systems. When I looked at this video over a standard RDP connection the sound was clear but the images were choppy and slow. As you can see here the video and sound are in sync and play back smoothly.
