Google, Earthlink Win San Francisco Wi-Fi Pact

The city of San Francisco has tapped Google Inc. and partner Earthlink to build a city-wide wireless network. The decision was made late April 5 by the city’s TechConnect Committee. It couldn’t immediately be determined when the two will start construction of the network, which will useg Wi-Fi wireless technology. This will be Earthlink’s fourth municipal Wi-Fi network while Google is testing its own Wi-Fi network in Mountain View, Calif.
