Coincidence or not, Google has been very busy rejiggering its Google Maps in the few weeks since Yahoo introduced its first competitive mapping feature based on satellite imagery.
The catalyst for Google may be that Yahoo claims its satellite maps feature, unveiled April 11, covers more of the planet than anyone else.
So Google apparently got to work. Most of the changes seem to affect Google Maps in Europe. Earlier this week came news of street-level details added to European versions of Google Maps.
Now it’s apparent via several reports that Google’s been busy launching Google Maps with Web addresses specific to a half dozen European nations. Observers like those at Search Engine Watch and Google Blogoscoped expect more to come.
