Though email still the most popular daily online activity, search is closing in…As of last year, newspaper classifieds were the source of 5% of new hires, online ads 51 percent… Some 43% of search engine users look for local merchants to buy something offline.

Ken Cassar, Nielsen/Netratings: Online activity is made up of communication: 41%, content viewing 36%, commerce 19%, search 5%. Some 47% of all searchers use any of the top 100 search terms, while 53% use the balance.
