Definitive Solutions BHODemon, a free utility that makes it possible to discover and remove Internet Explorer BHOs (Browser Helper Objects), got a lot of attention recently, after a Trojan was discovered that could steal information from online banking customers by secretly installing itself as an IE BHO. Several leading security organizations even recommended using BHODemon.
BHODemon 2.0, which was released this month, ably detects hostile Trojans and other malicious programs hiding on systems. BHODemon 2.0 also detects all BHOs in IE. This enabled me to figure out which BHOs I wanted to keep and which I didnt even know I had.
Many adware and spyware programs install as BHOs, and BHODemon let me deactivate them and still run the original programs. I also could deactivate a useful BHO temporarily if necessary.
BHODemon 2.0 is simple to install and run, and the program provides an impressive amount of information on the BHOs it discovers. I also like that BHODemon will alert users anytime a site or application attempts to load a BHO.
