Security appliance vendor SonicWall this week will announce a new enterprise firewall/VPN box along with a new software client that can help enterprises enforce security policies for mobile workers.

The Pro 2040 can handle 200M bps of firewall throughput and 50M bps of VPN traffic. The appliance supports Advanced Encryption Standard and can manage up to 150 VPN tunnels, officials said. The 2040 will retail for $1,995. Another appliance, the Pro 5060, due at the end of next quarter, is designed for Gigabit Ethernet networks.

The Global Security Client software includes an application-aware client firewall that enables the appliance at a central location to check for violations of a companys security policies. The software is priced at $18 to $55 per client license.
