Supporters of the radical Muslim movement that has captured territory in Syria and Iraq hacked the social media accounts of the U.S. Central Command on Jan. 12. The hackers, calling themselves the CyberCaliphate, used their access to three Twitter accounts and a YouTube account belonging to USCENTCOM to post messages and public documents.

However, the attack lasted less than 30 minutes and only publicized already-public documents, according to Ian Amit, vice president for social media security firm ZeroFOX.

Heartland Payment Systems has announced a new breach warranty for its users that will reimburse merchants for costs incurred from a data breach that involves the Heartland Secure credit card payment processing system. This comes on the heels of many high-profile data breaches aimed at merchants in 2014, including Target, Staples and Home Depot.

Ionic Security announced today that it has raised $40.1 million through its Series C round of funding. Total funding to date for the security startup is now at $78.1 million as it builds out its vision of creating a new enterprise security policy platform for data security. Adam Ghetti created the initial Social Fortress project to give himself an independent control plane over his data before it went into Facebook, while not breaking the overall Facebook experience. Since then, Ghetti and his team have evolved Social Fortress for an enterprise audience to help secure data as it moves to the cloud.

Mobile solutions specialist Citrix announced an updated release of its XenMobile enterprise mobility management solution. The release features multiple design enhancements for users, enabling them to create new workflows with the XenMobile suite of integrated business apps.

The latest release unifies the server infrastructure for mobile device management with mobile application management and provides IT administrators a single plane of control to manage apps and devices from a single virtual server.
