Security vendor nCircle announced May 23 that it has completed the acquisition of Cambia Security, a company specializing in agent-less configuration auditing.
Cambia makes Cambia CM, a tool that analyzes system configurations to ensure the configurations are in line with company policy and any applicable government regulations. According to officials at San Francisco-based nCircle, the deal was an all-stock transaction amounting to 15 percent of the value of nCircle.
“As the security market focuses more on business risk management, consolidation is bound to see most of todays smaller participants acquired by larger players,” said Peter Christy, founder of the Internet Research Group, based in Los Angeles.
“Anticipating this inevitable process, nCircle has built a platform capable of integrating complementary solutions and delivering increasing value to enterprise customers.”
nCircle officials said they plan to merge the technologies from Cambia into a new tool named nCircle Configuration Compliance Manager. The products will be merged through consolidated reporting followed by centralized command and control, company officials said.
Joan Herbig, president and CEO of Cambia, said in a statement that the acquisition was a very good outcome for the companys investors, people and customers.
“In nCircle, we see a company that understands how to build world-class technology, a worldwide organization with a strong focus on delivering value to its customers. There is also a cultural affinity between these organizations that makes me extremely optimistic about Cambia as a successful part of the nCircle team,” she said.
