Theres Windows, and theres Linux. Now, Windows-to-Linux software developer CodeWeavers Inc. has released an application that will allow Linux users to run Microsoft Corp.s Office applications and IBMs Lotus divisions Notes on their desktops without a Windows license or Windows emulator.
The software, known as CrossOver Office 1.0, circumvents Windows XP licensing requirements.
CrossOver Office is targeted at enterprise customers migrating to Linux, IT consultants specializing in desktop management and VARs, as well as Internet appliance and thin-client users, according to officials with CodeWeavers, in St. Paul, Minn.
CrossOver Office 1.0 is available now, with pricing starting at $54.95 per user.
