Cloud-based IT services provider and business applications developer Intermedia announced the launch of SecuriSync, a file collaboration service aimed at small to medium-size businesses (SMBs).

The platform is designed to give users improved mobility without compromising control and protection for the IT department. It is a user-friendly platform similar to the ease of Dropbox, but it features enhanced security and control for business users.

Similar to a host of other file sync and sharing services, SecuriSync keeps files and folders synced in real time across every desktop and mobile device. It is currently available for purchase and for resell by Intermedia partners, and a company release noted customers can try it free for 30 days.

The platform is fully integrated with Intermedia’s Office in the Cloud suite, eliminating the need for businesses to manage separate services for hosted Exchange, hosted PBX, Microsoft Office and other IT collaboration applications.

“SecuriSync finally gives users a file sync and share solution that’s as simple to use as Dropbox, with the control and security that business customers demand,” Michael Gold, president of Intermedia, said in a statement. “This service is consistent with our vision of providing small and medium-sized businesses with a tightly integrated suite of critical cloud IT services.”

Integration with Microsoft Active Directory helps with provisioning and onboarding processes, as well as leveraging existing password policies, while integration with Outlook and Office through installed plug-ins brings the syncing and sharing capabilities of SecuriSync to the applications employees use.

In addition, it allows sharing of files and folders with recipients both inside and outside the company. SecuriSync also offers control over sharing permissions, at-rest and in-transit encryption, and remote wipe capabilities, among other features.

For resell partners, the service is gray-labeled to enable partners to own customer relationships. Billing, branding, bundling, pricing and other aspects of a customer’s SecuriSync experience are controlled by the partner and managed through Intermedia’s Partner Portal.

“We can, for the first time, respond positively to requests from our customers who are looking for a file sync and share solution we can deploy in their businesses,” Shawn Freeman, an owner at TWT Group and an Intermedia partner, said in a statement. “We deployed our gray-labeled SecuriSync solution very quickly, building on the organizational knowledge we already had. The customer appreciates the control and ease of management, while the increase in revenue from an added service helps us grow our business.”
