Metalogix announced ControlPoint 6.0 with Sensitive Content Manager for Personally Identifiable Information (PII).

Designed to work with Office 365, SharePoint, OneDrive for Business, Exchange, Box, Dropbox, Amazon, Google and other enterprise content management (ECM) systems, the platform is powered by a machine learning analysis engine.

The analysis engine offers a higher degree of accuracy in context- aware identification, thus producing fewer false negatives and false positives, Steven Murphy, CEO of Metalogix, told eWEEK.

“Metalogix Sensitive Content Manager benefits any size and type organization that stores PII [and] PHI,” Murphy said. “But financial, retail, pharmaceutical, health care, education, plus any highly regulated industries have the most severe sensitive content exposure.”

He said the solution’s detection and classification capabilities would evolve over time in order to meet future data protection challenges like HIPAA, PHI, PCI and International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), among others.

“User experience is key. That is why we have deployed a machine learning engine to affect the scan and classification process to eliminate false positives. In a nut shell, the Sensitive Content Manager learns,” Murphy explained. “Users don’t need an artificial intelligence PhD to operate it, they can just access it like a standard cloud SaaS service.”

When integrated with ControlPoint 6.0, Metalogix’ permissions management solution, it automates the compliance lifecycle for Intelligent Sensitive Content Management.

A recent IBM X-Force Threat Intelligence Report noted that more than 1 billion PII- related records were breached in 2014 alone, an increase of more than 25 percent compared to 2013.

“Much the same way Microsoft and Google release solutions, we complete the development process and then call on customers to down load it free for a couple months to get direct feedback to rapidly enhance the solution for rapid deployment,” Murphy said.

The company also announced Service Manager for Office 365, a platform that lets administrators provision both users and content across the Office 365 suite, as a means to reduce infrastructure complexity.

Service Manager for Office 365 is a user-focused operations service management solution with the ability to gather cross- application analytics, report on Active Directory user profiles, ensure proper permissions across environments, execute backups and ensure security for the entire Office 365 suite.

The platform provides administrators with a unified way to manage use and content through the entire lifecycle, from a single pane of glass, with a single interface replacing multiple disjointed administration interfaces, the company said.
