Data security and data management solutions specialist Paragon Software Group (PGS) announced the release of Virtualization Manager 2010 Professional, which is designed to remove boundaries and limitations between physical and virtual environments. Paragon Connect VD technology is a technology of data access inside diverse virtual disk types, compatible with the products from most modern virtualization software providers such as Microsoft, VMware and Oracle. Paragon is offering the software for a special $69.99 introductory price.
The solution allows users to connect an offline virtual disk and work with it as if it is an ordinary physical disk. Paragon said this technology also helps assures easy data management and data transfer between different types of virtual machines. Users can migrate a Windows-based computer to a virtual environment (P2V) and vice versa (V2P) with little downtime and revive old environments with Windows OS (versions since Win2K) in a virtual machine with the help of the P2V Adjust tool.
Users can also restore the old archive in a virtual machine by any means and then perform OS adaptation. It allows companies to work with virtual disks from one interface of Virtualization Manager, without starting a virtual machine, migrate from one virtual environment to another (V2V), exchange data between the physical environment and the virtual one and perform any partitioning operations.
Other features and benefits include the ability to migrate a Windows-based computer to a virtual environment (P2V), migrate from a virtual environment to a physical environment (V2P), migrate from one virtual environment to another (V2V), migrate a Windows-based computer to a different hardware platform (P2P), restore a physical system from a Paragon’s backup to a virtual environment (P2V Restore) or connect a virtual disk as if it’s an ordinary physical disk, thus opening up all product functionality available for physical disks to virtual (Connect VD).
The solution also allows companies to recover the OS startup ability after system migration to a different hardware or unsuccessful virtualization by a third party tool (P2P and P2V Adjust) and exchange data between a physical environment and a virtual one, or between a virtual disk and its snapshots, as well as clone a partition or an entire hard disk and accomplish virtual drive partitioning (create, format, delete, move, resize, etc.).
