Cloud security specialist Zscaler announced the launch of its integrated e-mail and Web security service, offering a single policy manager for e-mail and Web security, cross-leveraging threat intelligence with full inline real-time content inspection of e-mail and Web traffic and holistic visibility for e-mail and Web. The integrated e-mail and Web security services ranges from $1 to $5 per user, per month depending upon the size of the customer organization and number of services selected. Enterprises can also elect to start with either the e-mail or Web service and then add additional services as needed, the company noted.
Key features include filtering to block spam and phishing, protection against viruses and spyware before they enter the enterprise perimeter, flexible policies to define granular mail flow and encryption, DLP (data loss prevention) for SMTP and Webmail, and interactive and correlated real-time reporting. In addition, a single, common user interface and policy manager for DLP eliminates the need to maintain separate sets of policies and dictionaries for e-mail and Web.
Christian Christiansen, program vice president for IDC’s security products and services group, explained Web and messaging security are no longer mutually exclusive. “Malicious URLs appear in e-mails, phishing attacks, and sophisticated blended threats that target multiple protocols. The use of Web-based malware forces organizations to adopt security technologies that can address both Web and messaging threat vectors to an equal degree,” he said. “Offering potential solutions, Zscaler’s security SAAS (software-as-a-service) offerings provide integrated Web and e-mail security that reduces cost and complexity while improving security.”
Zscaler launched its cloud-delivered Web security service in 2008 and said it is now protecting millions of users in 140 countries. Customers range from G2000 enterprises to governments to SMBs (small to medium-size businesses). In addition, the Zscaler services offer policy-based protection for mobile users anywhere and at any time with more than 40 data centers globally.
