Zyxel Communications, a provider of secure broadband networking, Internet connectivity and routing products, announced its first product, the NWA110N-CE, in a series of CloudEnabled WiFi solutions for small to medium-size businesses. The NWA1100N-CE has integrated business hardware features, including multi-operation modes, Power-over-Ethernet support and multiple SSIDs, with a cloud-based management user interface. Designed specifically for SMBs, the platform will be generally available this June.

The NWA1100N-CE also offers data rates of up to 300M bps and PoE support (802.3af). For deployment flexibility, the product can be configured as an AP (access point), bridge, repeater or wireless client. The release also supports multiple SSIDs to help businesses segment their network for different workgroups or provide guest access. The platform provides enterprise-grade security with WPA/WPA2 and 802.1x support to protect data confidentiality.

The offering is powered by PowerCloud Systems’ patented CloudCommand technology. Rather than dilute enterprise-caliber, cloud-managed services for SMBs, PowerCloud Systems has designed its solutions from the ground up to meet SMBs’ needs. By integrating the NWA1100N-CE with CloudCommand, the product features several enhancements, including a single interface for user-friendly AP deployment and management and improved traffic management and security with VLAN tagging.

Other features include one-click firmware upgrade for increased efficiency and simultaneous configuration or preconfiguration of APs, as well as detailed network statistics and graphs, and email and SMS notifications to help keep the administrator informed of network status and updates. Security features include a firewalled guest network to provide security against all devices connected to the guest network and user management with authentication and encryption.

“The cloud offers SMBs a revolutionary way to access and manage IT resources, and Zyxel can deliver complete, robust and affordable networking solutions that take advantage of this evolution,” said Steven Joe, executive vice president of channel business at Zyxel. “The NWA1100N-CE is first in this series of CloudEnabled solutions for SMBs, and it also gives our channel partners a lucrative source of recurring service revenue.”

In April, the company partnered with AuthenTec, a provider of security and identity management solutions, to integrate its QuickSec IPsec Server toolkit to enhance security in its ZyWall Series of network security appliances. The QuickSec Server provides scalable, carrier-grade security to handle up to 1 million secure VPN tunnels between clients and a Zyxel gateway simultaneously. QuickSec Server also supports multiple standards and client platforms, making the ZyWall series of security, firewall and unified threat management (UTM) appliances compatible with current and emerging standards and client devices.
