The information in databases is like gold to most enterprises. BakBone Software Inc. this month released a module designed to protect the data in Oracle9i databases.

The Oracle Online Application Plugin Module, or APM, provides fast online backup for Oracle Corp.s 8, 8i and 9i databases running on Unix, Linux, Windows NT and Windows 2000 platforms, said officials with San Diego-based BakBone.

Features include hot backup, which allows databases to stay online during backup operations; support for multiple database servers; and raw tablespace support, allowing for the backup of raw tablespace without user intervention.

The Oracle9i APM is available now, with pricing starting at $995 on Linux and Windows NT and 2000, and $4,995 for Unix.
