Verio Adds Entry-Level Data Backup Plan for SMBs

Verio, a leading provider of hosting and managed services for small and midsize businesses and partners, on Jan. 18 introduced to its line of PC Data Backup offerings a new entry-level plan for smaller companies looking to protect 1GB or less of data.

A survey conducted by Verio last year of small businesses and home office users found that 45 percent of them do not have a data recovery plan in place, leaving their businesses susceptible to the high costs associated with data recovery. Additionally, 70 percent of respondents said a single incidence of data loss would be significant and costly for their businesses.

The new 1 GB plan from Verio is ideal for small businesses that need to back up simple spreadsheets, word processing or other financial documents, company officials said. Verio also offers PC Data Backup plans for businesses that need to secure higher volumes of data or larger files such as media or graphics. Plans range up to 30GB of storage.

Verios PC Data Backup protects data stored on personal computers by automatically backing up files to a secure offsite facility and providing customers the ability to easily restore files should any type of data loss occur, according to the company. Users can back up one or more PCs and watch backups as they occur with an Internet-based tool with point-and-click interfaces.

“With an increasing threat to data stored on PCs, its no longer practical for small businesses to back up customer records, financials and other information on thumb drives, or other methods that store data backups onsite,” said Dennis Boyle, Verios chief operating officer, in a statement. “Verio PC Data Backup offers small businesses an easy-to-use method for protecting critical data to a secure, offsite facility, which is cost-effective.”

Verios PC Data Backup is available immediately, starting at $7.49 per month for 1GB of storage, with additional plans designed to fit different storage needs and budgets.
