A survey from access governance vendor Courion underscored that security cloud has a ways to go.

In a survey of 384 business managers (86 percent of which came from companies with at least 1,000 employees), Courion found disagreement over who is in charge of data. More than 65 percent said the cloud service provider, application provider and company from where the data originates from are all responsible. Another 13 said they weren’t sure.

Underscoring the challenges around identity and access management, 48.1 percent said they are not confident a compliance audit of their cloud-based apps would show that all user access is appropriate. Sixty-one percent reported having limited or no knowledge of which systems or applications employees have access to.

A recent report by Forrester Research listed identity and access management as a key area of growth when it comes to cloud security, along with cloud governance and data, application and operational security solutions.
