The U.S. General Services Administration decided to make a change in which an Internet infrastructure provider would power its ultra-busy USA.gov Web portal, and the winner is Terremark Worldwide. USA.gov is the federal government’s front-line Web site for all kinds of information about how the government works and which services it provides.

Terremark’s Enterprise Cloud platform, about which eWEEK reported in 2008, will be deployed to help users search the free-access Web site, which gives visitors a centralized place to find information from U.S. local, state and federal government agency sites.

The on-demand nature of The Enterprise Cloud enables Terremark to provide the GSA with complete access to secure cloud-based computing resources in minutes instead of in days or weeks.
