Well, The Station doesn’t get to announce this kind of thing too often, so we might as well get it over with. Yours truly will be on-site at the Fairmont Hotel in downtown San Jose, Calif., Friday morning to cover the annual Yahoo shareholders’ meeting for eWEEK — and analyze it for Fox Business News.

It’s kind of a long story about how this all came to pass, but let us say that Fox asked for an eWEEK reporter to help them out, and we happen to be within the correct geographical coordinates.

We didn’t ask Fox producer Jordan Mandelberg if he’s been reading my posts here on Storage Station — or that of my colleagues Clint Boulton and Joe Wilcox — about the failed Microsoft takeover of Yahoo and the meddling of gazillionaire corporate raider Carl Icahn. That might have made a difference in their choice…but now it’s too late to make a change ;-)

Turns out that Icahn has chickened out and won’t be at the shareholders’ meeting after all. Actually, he says in his blog that he already had made nice with CEO and co-founder Jerry Yang and some other board members, but we’ll see how true that is and/or how long it lasts.

Rats. We really were hoping to get the guy in a corner and find out where he’s coming from. No, wait…we already know where he’s coming from. See my previous posts about that.

Anyway, if you’re around a television with cable Friday, we’ll be on-site starting at 9 a.m. Pacific time. The meeting starts at 10 a.m., and who knows how long it will go.

My Fox News analysis will take place immediately following the meeting. And yes, of course you can expect a full inside report from the meeting here and on eWEEK.com.
