Business Intelligence software developer Cognos Inc., along with FileNet Corp., announced Tuesday an extension of their existing partnership that will include new integration points between Cognos BI (business intelligence) software and FileNets BPM (business performance management) software.
Under the terms of the agreement FileNet and Cognos will create a number of integration points between their respective software suites—Cognos 8 BI and FileNet P8—that enable users to get a more holistic view of their business processes and business intelligence information, officials said.
Cognos 8 BI provides a range of intelligence functionality, including dimensional reporting, comparative analysis, dashboards, scorecards and business event management.
FileNet P8 enables users to automate business processes, and to access and manage content in a variety of different formats.
The integration points include process data provided by FileNet that is aggregated with data from Cognos 8.
At the same time, BI data is incorporated into FileNets BPM process steps for better decision making, and Cognos monitoring, detection and alerting capabilities enable processes to be automatically initiated through FileNet.
The convergence of BI and BPM technologies is being brought on as more users are working to link the decision making process with existing workflow to get better improvements in business performance, according to a July report released by AMR Research Inc.
