TIBCO Software, a provider of business intelligence (BI) software, announced the release of TIBCO Jaspersoft 6, the latest version of the company’s BI dashboard platform.

Jaspersoft 6 is powered by TIBCO’s JavaScript framework known as Visualize.js. It enables developers to quickly build and embed interactive dashboards directly within their Web applications without relying on iFrames. The results are dashboards that become the fabric of Web applications, delivering richer contextual insights for users across their desktop and mobile devices, the company said.

“Since launching our popular Visualize.js framework for reports earlier this year, we knew customers would expect the simplicity and flexibility of JavaScript for their dashboards,” said Brian Gentile, senior vice president and general manager of TIBCO Analytics, in a statement. “With Jaspersoft 6, developers not only get greater control over their embedded dashboard thanks to the Visualize.js framework, but they can now quickly build and edit them using the new designer.”

TIBCO brings significant improvements with Jaspersoft 6, upgrading the dashboard designer and providing a pluggable visualization interface for reports, along with an improved native mobile app.

“The dashboards in Jaspersoft 6 are exactly what we were looking for,” said Kenton Gray, chief technical officer at iOffice, which uses the TIBCO platform. “The focus on simplicity, ease of access to data and improved layout will make it easier than ever for our customers to create powerful executive dashboards. Combined with the new REST integration options, we can now customize Jaspersoft for our application to create a seamless user experience.”

New features with version 6 include that Jaspersoft dashboards can be uniquely branded, manually connected to data sources and easily filtered to show the most relevant content for a user.

Also, report developers can enrich their reports by plugging in their own charting libraries such as D3.js, HighCharts and more, using the new pluggable visualization component for TIBCO Jaspersoft Studio. And large complex reports are easier to use through the help of a new tabbed report workbook and table of contents viewer. Delivered directly in the browser, report viewers can now quickly interact and navigate large multi-page reports.

Last month, TIBCO shared its vision for the TIBCO Analytics platform, and previewed new solutions and updates for TIBCO Spotfire and Jaspersoft. The company detailed how it would make enterprise data accessible more quickly to all users, wherever they are, and in whatever application they are working. The TIBCO Analytics platform is able to achieve this through the easy-to-use data visualization capabilities from Spotfire, along with contextual insight through embedded reporting and analytics from Jaspersoft.

TIBCO announced that it would deliver several advancements to its TIBCO Analytics platform by the end of 2014, including Jaspersoft 6. The others include the TIBCO Spotfire Cloud Update with TIBCO Spotfire Recommendations. TIBCO Spotfire Recommendations is a new, intelligent analytics recommendation engine designed for business users who need to analyze data, but are not experts in analytics techniques.

The company also said it would deliver Spotfire and Jaspersoft interoperability, where over time TIBCO customers will be able to increasingly combine the power of the Jaspersoft business intelligence platform with the data visualization capabilities of Spotfire. Early examples of interoperability include broadening the reach of insight from Spotfire through Jaspersoft’s reporting platform and enriching Jaspersoft reports with Spotfire GeoAnalytics’ map-based visualizations.

TIBCO also made Spotfire available through the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Marketplace, giving users data visualization in a pay-as-you-go basis for Amazon Redshift and more. In addition, the Jaspersoft business intelligence platform on AWS Marketplace adds a new annual subscription with professional support to complement its popular hourly service.

In addition, TIBCO announced a beta program for its new cloud-based TIBCO Metrics offering, which delivers personalized key performance indicators (KPIs) for every decision maker in an organization and viewable on any device. Delivered as a cloud service, TIBCO Metrics will make it simple to author, monitor and manage business metrics.

“In order to succeed, modern organizations must move at unprecedented velocity. Having access to actionable data that is contextually relevant, and delivered in real time, is critical to being nimble, proactive and allowing all business users to make better decisions,” TIBCO’s Gentile said. “With the combined power of Jaspersoft and Spotfire, TIBCO is uniquely positioned to utilize deep understanding of the data analytics market to deliver simple, fast, and elegant solutions to empower end-user through data.”
