Amdocs Ltd., which entered the CRM (customer relationship management) space last year when it bought the Clarify software from Nortel Networks Ltd., Wednesday announced the acquisition of defunct marketing software developer Xchange Applications Inc.
The deal was valued at approximately $5 million. Xchange closed its doors last month, and its intellectual property was put up for auction last week.
Amdocs will add Xchanges marketing automation and campaign management applications to ClarifyCRM. Amdocs officials, in St. Louis, said the Xchange technology will mainly benefit ClarifyCRM customers in the financial services and telecommunications verticals.
Xchange will add capabilities that will optimize customer interactions and improve return on investment and lifetime customer value, officials said.
Amdocs will incorporate the Xchange products as integrated modules within the Amdocs ClarifyCRM application suite, though customers will have the option of purchasing the campaign management and real-time marketing automation modules as stand-alones.
Amdocs plans to offer support services as well as future product extensions to existing customers of the Xchange products, Amdocs officials said.
Xchange had been one of the top vendors in the marketing software space. But the companys fortunes faded with the slowing economy, and it was delisted from Nasdaq last June. The Boston-based company ceased operations last month after failing to secure new private financing.
