Steven Springsteel, who resigned as chief financial officer and chief operating officer at Sagent Technology Inc. last week, was announced as Verity Inc.s new CFO and vice president of finance and administration Monday.

Springsteel replaces Todd Yamami at search and knowledge management software developer Verity. Yamami announced in December that he was resigning from Verity to spend more time with his family, but stayed on with the Sunnyvale, Calif.-based company until his successor was named.

Springsteel will remain a member of Sagents board of directors. Prior to joining Sagent in November 2001, Springsteel had served as COO and CFO at systems management software developer NOCPulse Inc., which was since acquired by Red Hat Inc. He has also held the CFO positions at CRM software developer Chordiant Software Inc. and Multipoint Networks.

He will report to Gary Sbona, Veritys chairman and CEO.

“Steve brings a track record of impressive accomplishments in financial and operations management to the Verity team,” said Sbona in a statement.
