Software management provider Axway revealed Jan. 19 that it has acquired Appcelerator, which makes a mobile engagement platform that enables optimal app experiences for device users. Details of the all-cash acquisition were not released.
Axway sells enterprise engagement software that enables application programming interface (API) management, identity management, mobile app development and analytics. The company has 11,000 customers and is registered in France but maintains its headquarters in Phoenix.
With the acquisition, Axway expands its suite of digital business enablement solutions that aim to help enterprises deliver optimal customer experiences connected on any device, to any data source, at any time.
Appcelerator, based in San Jose, Calif., was founded in 2006 with the introduction of its popular Titanium Software Development Kit, widely used in 185 countries for building cross-platform mobile apps. The Appcelerator Platform is purpose-built for digital business, handling more than 2 billion cloud API calls per month and powering mobile apps running on over 350 million devices, the company said.
The combination of Axway’s digital enablement solutions and the Appcelerator Platform will allow anyone to quickly create intuitive mobile apps, easily integrate them to existing systems using APIs, manage back-end services at scale and optimize performance with comprehensive analytics. Axway claims Appcelerator’s mobile app and integration platform and best practices will help accelerate the pace of new product innovation for its customers.
“To survive and remain relevant, every modern enterprise is on the journey to digital business. They realize that they need to deliver delightful customer experience and business innovation while increasing operational efficiency,” Axway CEO Jean-Marc Lazzari said.
