Computer Associates International filled in a missing piece of its executive management team last week, naming former Dell executive Robert Davis as its new chief financial officer.

Davis leaves the posts of vice president of corporate finance and chief accounting officer at Dell to take on the CA job, which had been handled by Chief Operating Officer Jeff Clarke.

Davis will report to Clarke, who took on the chief financial officer role in April, following the departure of former CFO Ira Zar, who pleaded guilty last year to securities fraud as part of a Securities and Exchange Commission investigation into CAs accounting practices.

Davis will take up his new position March 1.

CA also named IBM executive William McCracken as an independent board member, one of two such members required by CAs plea agreement with federal prosecutors.
