I took an introduction to Intense Schools live-over-the-Internet boot camp training program and found that its a decent alternative to in-person lessons.
The program re-created nearly everything a real classroom would have—except the coffee-break chatter and networking that often occurs during in-person classroom instruction.
During my test run with instructor Julia Hull, we used interactive voice, instant chat and shared-screen applications to walk through the “classroom” experience.
Although the voice link was sometimes choppy, my overall experience with the system was satis-factory. It was easy to stay focused on the course materials with the instructor talking about the concepts live. Students work in interactive labs and have Internet access to real machines at Intense Schools physical facility in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
Intense School offers Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer and Certified Systems Administrator courses, as well as Cisco Certified Network Associate training classes.
